The 2 oldest classes I teach media Literacy to are a Grade 4 and a Grade 5 Extended French Classes (although I teach them in English). So these classes are going to be my Blogging Guinea Pigs. I'm currently starting with the Grade 4 class because the Grade 5 class is currently involved in a wiki project which has been very successful.....anyway, I've been looking at different tools to manage classroom blogs. I want to have a class blog with the students blogs listed in the sidebar. I started thinking about using a tool called Classblogmeister which one of my Blogging Heroes uses..(Check out this Grade 1 classroom blog in Sask....I mean if they can do it in Grade 1...). after looking into it I'm now moving on to other tools. I've been told about 21classes a few times but I think I'm going to settle on Edublogs to run our blogs. Edublogs is the engine that runs a Blog by 2 teachers in Ottawa that I admire..Here's one of their Blogs (a Grade 5 class). I'm just at the beginning stages but I'll keep you updated by my progress.

Hello! Thanks so much for wonderful blogs you've shared here!
ReplyDeleteMind sharing your edublogs URL with me? Email it to me when you feel ready...
Can we get a peek at your grade 5 wiki project? Sounds exciting!
The wiki does sound interesting! I attempted to start one earlier in the year but abandoned it :-( I feel ashamed now since your grade 5s are doing it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great age to start the students into these projects. They are excited and ready for new adventures. I'd love to know how the logistics work for a large group as my "classroom" could involve 400 students.
